Website Usability & Libraries: a WordPress based approach

In the modern age of technology and information, libraries have had to adapt to accommodate a generation of users who are accustomed to the simplicity of Google. This shift in demographics, as well as new missions, have posed usability problems for their websites. During this talk, we look at some of the most prevalent issues libraries face, and how they can be addressed using WordPress. This will include topics such as “is WordPress right for your library”, how to find a theme that solves the usability problems we examine, and plugins (such as OpenBook) that can help solve issues libraries face. We’ll also talk about how WordPress can be used as something more than a catalog (especially for academic purposes).
